Snoring is a very common act, and it can be contained as long as it is not a health condition. It can really suck at times when you are sleeping and then your partner or someone else from the other side of the room is snoring loudly. You are actually likely to get pissed with the guy.
But worry not, today I come bearing gifts as I have prepared practical tips on how to stop snoring.
1. Sleep on your side
A simple way to try reducing snoring is to sleep on your side. That way, you will have blocked your tongue from going back into your mouth, blocking the airflow and complicating your breathing while you sleep.
2. Try losing weight.
Overweight people can have additional tissue in their throats, making it difficult to breathe at night. Losing some weight might help with the problem.
3. Exercise regularly.
Maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle helps you improve your rest and reduces snoring considerably. Physical activity also builds up the muscular tone of your upper airways.
4. Elevate Your Head in Bed
Consider adding a little wedge to the head part of your mattress to elevate it around 10 centimeters (4 inches).
5. Avoid taking heavy meals at night.
It’s best not to eat for at least two hours before going to bed. Also, the meal should not be too heavy. This way, you will have time to digest it before you fall asleep. You don’t want to give your stomach a lot of work when digesting all night.
6. Drink a lot of water.
Taking two liters of water a day helps your body to hydrate and avoid the presence of mucus, which can be the cause of snoring. Have a bottle of water next to your bed.
7. Do not smoke.
This could probably be the reason why you are snoring so loudly at night: your nostrils have blocked. This harmful hobby congests your pharynx and nose, complicating your breathing at night.
