Diana’s experience during her third pregnancy
In a YouTube video on September 18, where they introduced baby Malaika to the public, Diana revealed how the pregnancy affected their relationship. She recalled Bahati’s initial reaction when she broke the news. At that time, he was busy with his campaign for the Mathare parliamentary seat under the Jubilee Party.
“When I told Bahati, he was shocked for a moment,I remember I was vlogging, and he just asked, ‘Are you done recording?’ before he picked up his coat and left.” Diana said.
Although Bahati tried to show support during the video, his abrupt departure left Diana feeling uneasy. The situation worsened as Bahati threw himself into his political career, often being absent from home. This made Diana feel isolated and uncertain about their relationship.
“Yaani tulikuwa kwa hao na all these months there was no connection. He was fully immersed in his campaign. Sometimes he would sleep for 48 hours straight. When I tried to talk to him, he was so moody that I just kept quiet. Then he started blaming it all on me,” she recalled.
Despite being seven months pregnant, Diana would wake up at 4:30 AM to accompany Bahati to Mathare for his political activities. However, the lack of emotional support from Bahati took a toll on her. “He would come home, shower, eat, and go straight to bed. There was no real connection between us, and it was a difficult time,” Diana shared.
The emotional strain eventually led Diana to seek professional counseling, something Bahati only learned about much later.

Bahati’s behavior and Diana’s breaking point
Diana also discussed Bahati’s mood swings and how his behavior impacted their relationship, particularly when he would blame her for not being a supportive wife.
“He blamed me for not being supportive. He’d say, ‘I don’t feel your support. When I wake up, you’re not here,’” she explained, noting that she was already juggling household responsibilities, caring for their other children, and dealing with her pregnancy.
One incident that profoundly affected Diana was when Bahati went out with his friends and didn’t return her calls. When he eventually came home, he criticized Diana for not recognizing his depression, even though she was dealing with her own challenges.
“He left at 4 PM, and when I tried reaching him at midnight, he didn’t pick up. I called his driver and could hear them laughing in the background. When he came home, he had the audacity to tell me, ‘Don’t you see I’m depressed?’ I was also going through my struggles, but I was getting shots fired at me,” she remembered.

Diana revealed that Bahati was hearing the story for the first time, as they had never discussed it before. She explained that this was why she once posted a black image with a dove, prompting many people to question if she was okay.
