Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pleaded with Generation Z to consider calling off the already-scheduled #occupythestatehouse protests that were supposed to take place tomorrow.
Gachagua, who was addressing the nation from Mombasa, urged the youths to consider doing so now that the president has given in and done exactly what they wanted done.
“As deputy President of the Republic of Kenya and a patriotic son of this country, I want to appeal to Generation Z to call off the protests of tomorrow because their cry has been heard by the President, who has accepted there was an issue, a disconnect, and it is only fair that we call off the protests so that we don’t have further loss of lives and destruction of property.” Gachagua said.
He goes on saying that it is an appeal he has made as a father to the young people to consider doing the right thing, as their demands have been heard now that the President accepted to withdraw the 2024 Finance Bill.
“Please, I beseech you as your father, my sons and daughters, now that the President has given in to the wishes of Kenyans…
Please, my sons and daughters, I plead with you to save lives and property. Please make an announcement this evening and call off the protests, and then we can begin the process of an honest conversation on how to work on our country.” Gachagua said.
