Speaking at a church service in Western Kenya, Oparanya emphasised his commitment to developing MSMEs and boosting the broader economy, drawing from his previous success as Governor of Kakamega County.

Oparanya, who was known for his work in infrastructure and healthcare and supporting local businesses in Kakamega, was appointed to the MSME docket due to his extensive experience in local governance and economic management. During his tenure as governor, he notably improved the region’s milk industry and other local enterprises.

“I will help them, but when they fail to take my advice, I will resign and come back home because if you want to be assisted, you must accept,” Oparanya stated, underscoring that his continued service depends on the government’s readiness to adopt his strategies.

He also promised to overhaul the hustler fund, a key initiative under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. Oparanya has committed to establishing a proper legal framework, setting up a management board, and ensuring the fund’s efficient operation.

Oparanya’s commitment includes addressing the high default rate on loans from the hustler fund, which many Kenyans have failed to repay. His plan aims to streamline fund management and improve repayment strategies, crucial for supporting the country’s economic growth.

Oparanya’s bold stance showed many Kenyans his dedication to transforming the MSME sector, with the hope that his recommendations will be taken seriously to enhance the livelihoods of many Kenyans.
