CS Wycliffe Oparanya has promised to create more job opportunities for young people in his county. In a recent public address, Oparanya highlighted his commitment to tackling youth unemployment, a pressing issue in many parts of Kenya.
“I see that the young people, GEN Z, are saying that they don’t have businesses and jobs. I am now here and I will make sure they get something to do, they are also free to visit my office” Oparanya said. He emphasized that his administration is working on several initiatives aimed at boosting employment rates among the youth.
Oparanya revealed plans to partner with local businesses and educational institutions to offer internships and apprenticeships. These programs are designed to give young people hands-on experience and improve their employability. “By working closely with businesses and schools, we can bridge the gap between education and the job market,” he noted.
The CS also spoke about improving access to funding for young entrepreneurs. He announced a new grant program to support startup businesses run by young people. “We want to encourage innovation and support young entrepreneurs who have great ideas but lack the resources to start their own businesses,” Oparanya explained.
Oparanya’s promises reflect a growing recognition of the need to address youth unemployment through targeted and practical measures.
