”Create an ex you can be proud of’- Comedian YY explains how he contributed to Marya Okoth’s rise to fame (Video)

Comedian YY (Oliver Otieno) recently left netizens in the lurch after joining in the announcement that he was no longer in a relationship with his baby mama Marya Okoth.

In relation to the latter, YY Comedian couldn’t eschew fans’ questioning the break-up.

However, he shared insights about the relationship in a recent interview with Dr. Ofweneke; where he calibrated how he met & contributed to Marya’s success.

”When I met Marya, she was in campus. She’s an interior designer, izo vitu za fine arts. That’s what she wanted to focus on. On the other hand, she was an actress. Me as a person, I had to look at her short-term and long-term.

He further narrated how he decided to conglomerate Marya Okoth in his skits, even though at that time they didn’t have enough equipment to produce content. It was quite quaint but they everntually nailed it.

”The short term is, let’s see if you can get fame. So, let’s build a brand. I’ll start putting you in my videos. She started loving the artistic side of her,” YY stated.

YY and Marya Okoth break-up

Marya Okoth and YY Comedian announced their separation nearly a week ago; after being together for nearly five years.

Marya shared the news on her Instagram, explaining that the decision was made due to unavoidable circumstances. She expressed gratitude for the support they have received from their fans.

“Hello and good morning. We are saddened to let you know that Marya Okoth and YY Comedian will no longer be together due to unavoidable circumstances. Thank you for your love and support through our union. We expect individual privacy from each one of you. Thanks,” Marya posted.

The ex-lovers were among the most sought after celebrity couples in the 254, but they have joined the list of celebrities who have broken up in 2024; including Flaqo & Keranta, Jackie Matubia and Blessing Lungaho, among others.
