CHERERA AND THREE IEBC COMMISIONERS TO FACE MPs

Juliana Cherera and three other IEBC Officials who didn’t want to be a part of the August Presidential poll results will go head-to-head with MPs this coming Thursday over petition that has been filed against them.

The petitions are from republican Rev, Dennis Nthumbi, Geoffrey lang’at and Steve Owour, that directs the dismissal of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) starting with the vice chairman Cherera and other three officials who are: Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya and Irene Masit.

They are accusing the four IEBC Officials of violating the constitution by not wanting to accept the results. Claiming that the four have not acknowledged the integrity test of office. This shows how incompetence they are by doing the contrary to what is expected of them in the article 71 of the constitution.

The House has exactly 10 days to reassess and determine if the petition is valid and that, if there’s any chance that either of the IEBC officials, will be dropped.

They await the parliamentary report on whether President Ruto will form a tribunal to probe their case or not.

Nthumbi added that the officials were making judgements and decisions that were entirely out of the code of conduct. Practising partiality and biased conduct. He says that, they wanted to jeopardize the results.

In reference, to article 251 of the constitution on chapter 6, it clearly states how the system runs in case a petition is filed.

“The Tribunal shall investigate the matter expeditiously, report on the facts and make a binding recommendation to the president, who shall act within 30 days,”

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, assured Kenyans that justice will prevail as they will look into the matter and give out the final decision,

“The work of the committee is to guide the House by way of a comprehensive report on whether the petitions satisfies the conditions set for the removal of one or all the cited members of an independent commission,”

The National Assembly speaker then said he will give the four officials a fair ground, they will be able to defend themselves with a lawyer if they at all want to.

We await Thursday to see how it will turn out.
