A somber event took an unexpected turn at the Lang’ata Cemetery today during the burial of beloved media personality Jahmby Koikai. Popular Kenyan content creators Njugush, his wife Celestine, and Butita were unfortunately forced to cut their visit short due to overwhelming attention from fans.
The ceremony, intended as a respectful farewell to Jahmby, was disrupted by a group of young men who swarmed the celebrities. Some fans sought selfies and autographs, while others reportedly requested handouts.
Videos from the event show Njugush and Butita rushing towards their car, pursued by the growing crowd. Once inside, they were surrounded again, prompting a hasty departure to escape the commotion.
Despite a nearby police officer and attempts by other attendees to intervene, the situation escalated. Njugush, known for his approachability with fans, was eventually overwhelmed by the large and unruly crowd.
The unfortunate incident did not overshadow the heartfelt tributes paid to Jahmby. Senator Gloria Orwoba, a close friend, delivered a moving speech that included a significant message from First Lady Rachel Ruto.
“The First Lady has committed to working with us to establish an Endometriosis Center in honor of Jahmby’s legacy,” Orwoba announced, sharing condolences on behalf of Mrs. Ruto.
This center, inspired by Jahmby’s own struggles and advocacy, aims to offer support and treatment to those suffering from endometriosis.
