Kenyan Actress Celestine Gachuhi has addressed online bullies, urging them to stop Cyberbullying others just because they are famous or popular.
Speaking through her social media page, she said that cyberbullying is a serious problem that has lasting effects on individuals.
She was referring to Azziad, who has been a longtime victim ever since she rose to fame over her TikTok video.
“Today I want to address a crucial issue that affects so many of us, especially those in the public eye. Cyberbullying is a serious problem that has lasting effects on its victims.
My dear friend Azziad has been a victim for too long.”
According to her, No one should face or suffer online criticism from the public, as we are all beings and are relatively equal to each other. Adding that words are very powerful and should be chosen carefully because they can build or break someone,
“We are all human beings with emotions, dreams, and aspirations. Behind every profile picture is a real person with real feelings. We need to remember that words carry power, and they can either build someone up or tear them down.”
She has urged her online followers and the public to help her in advocating against online bullying, as she believes that togetherness is power and has asked people to use their platforms in a more responsible way.
She then asked the public to always stand up for themselves and not keep quiet should it happen that they have been harassed.
“If you ever come across cyberbullying, please don’t stay silent. Speak out against it, report it, and stand in solidarity with the victims. Remember, together we can make a difference; let’s be allies, not bystanders. Spread love, not hate. Let’s be the light that shines through the darkness.”
Azziad has faced online criticism on quite a number of occasions, one being when she was rising to fame over a TikTok video dance she did that made her popular and allowed her to be given gigs and deals that helped her build her brand. She also recently faced it again when she was elected to the government by Ababu Namwamba, and even Brian Chira criticized her for using other illegal ways to get favors from the Government.
