Highlights
- Steve Kariuki stated that he hates children
- Caroline Mutoko has defended his sentiments
- The controversy surrounding the statement has ignited mixed reactions
The controversy arose after Kariuki appeared on Obinna TV and stated;
“I don’t like children. In fact, I hate them.”
This comment sparked outrage on social media, with many criticizing his choice of words.
Despite the negative reaction, Kariuki refused to apologize for his statement. He maintained that he was being honest about his personal preferences and would not lie to please others. He went ahead to claim that even if the whole world was against him, he would stand by himself and maintain his statement.
Caroline Mutoko to the rescue
Caroline Mutoko addressed the controversy in a TikTok video, expressing her support for Kariuki. She argued that his views reflect a sentiment shared by many men, though they may hesitate to express it openly.
“Most men don’t like children. With younger women and women of a certain intellect, they romanticise the idea of men, children, and child-rearing. In fact, grown women heard him. They were like, ‘you never said the quiet part loud.’ And hate is a very strong word,” she stated
Mutoko acknowledged that the word “hate” might have been too strong but emphasized that many men do not desire children. She suggested that Kariuki could have used milder language to convey his message.
The public’s reaction to Mutoko’s defense has been mixed. While some agree with her perspective, others argue that Kariuki’s comments do not represent the views of all men. Many men, in fact, enjoy being fathers and raising children.
