President William Ruto has showered Kenya’s Olympic team with cash rewards, a clear rebuttal to those who questioned their performance at the Paris 2024 Games.
The head of state hosted the athletes to a celebratory breakfast at State House, Eldoret, as promised, where he handed out a total of Ksh 19.75 million in prize money. Kenya clinched 11 medals, topping the African continent and placing 17th globally.
The president, via his Twitter page (X), congratulated the Kenyan team, revealing the future plans he has for athletics.
“Welcomed and recognized our golden stars at the state lodge Eldoret, after their triumphant outing in the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Congratulations, Team Kenya.
Kenya’s pride in athletics does not end with the 11 medals that we won in the Olympic Games. Our potential remains immense and underexploited. We will scale up collaboration with stakeholders to elevate our profile as the Land of Champions.” President William Ruto’s statement read:

Beatrice Chebet won two gold medals : Ksh 13 million.
Faith Kipyegon won gold and silver: Ksh 11 million.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the gold medal: Ksh 8.5 million.
Ronald Kwemboi won the silver medal: Ksh 2 million.
Mary Moraa won the bronze medal : Ksh 1 million.
Faith Cherotich won the bronze medal: Ksh 1 million.
Abraham Kibiwot won the bronze medal: Ksh 1 million.
Hellen Obiri won the bronze medal: Ksh 1 million.
Benson Kipruto won the bronze medal: Ksh 1 million.
