Bob Ndolo Shares The Reason Why He Supports Banning TikTok in Kenya

The internet was left abuzz with a video of a famous Tiktoker, Brian Chira, that went viral, revealing explicit content during a live session he had on TikTok. This video has caught the attention of Kenyans, causing mixed reactions as to whether it is appropriate for the content creator to be doing such stuff that will lead to the ban of TikTok in Kenya.

The action of the tiktoker has made Kenyans agree to the set petition to regulate tiktok in Kenya. The petition was initially set to ban tiktok in Kenya, but due to public demand, people insisted that the complete ban of tiktok would result in Kenyans losing their livelihood, hence making them petition for only the regulation.

Bob Ndolo, who is the CEO of Bridget Connect Consultancy, submitted a petition to the assembly.

In his petition, Ndolo says that the lack of regulation and the app’s addictive nature could cause a decline in academic performance and a rise in mental health issues among Kenya’s young people.

He also insisted that tiktokers like Brian Chira are contributing to the toxicity of tiktok and should be stopped. Adding to that, the committee now aims to pass laws that will regulate all social media platforms, not only TikTok, but also ensure that the platforms are safe for everyone to use since this is a digital era where everyone has access to the platform.

“In regards to the petition, we are pushing the petition, and if the law is passed, we will be able to regulate all social media platforms, not only TikTok. This will limit the toxicity of people who decide to use their platform to post vulgar content. They will face the consequences of being banned for a period of one year to learn their lesson.
