Five years ago today, Kenya mourned the loss of Bob Collymore, former Safaricom CEO. His wife, Wambui Kamiru Collymore, recently took to social media to express her enduring love for her late husband.
“The body remembers, and the love remains constant,” Wambui wrote on her social media platform, reflecting on her visit to the funeral home five years prior. A simple yet poignant message accompanied by white doves shared on her X account marked the anniversary.
Kenyans joined Wambui in honoring Collymore’s memory. Fond recollections and messages of comfort were shared online, offering support to Wambui during this difficult time.

Collymore passed away in 2019 at the age of 61, just three years after marrying Wambui in a grand ceremony. The Guyanese-born British businessman had battled acute myeloid leukemia, traveling to the UK for treatment in 2017. He returned to Kenya in 2018 to resume his leadership at Safaricom, but sadly succumbed to the illness a year later.
Prior to his death, Collymore spoke openly about his initial misdiagnosis and the importance of seeking expert medical advice when experiencing health concerns. His story serves as a reminder to prioritize health and cherish loved ones.
