Lately, it’s been a rollercoaster for Gospel Musician Bahati after he was axed from running for the Mathare’s Member of Parliament seat.
“Nmepewa mamilioni…Mimi nimepewa 50 millioni ,sababu mtu anajua akiingia pale anapanga kuibia watu wa Mathare,” spoke Bahati.
Speaking in an Interview with Radio Citizen, the father of four revealed the many offers he has received for his step down among them being 50 million.
Kevin Mbuvi Kioko alias Bahati has maintained his stand on not stepping down for ODM’s preferred candidate Anthony Aluoch.
This wrangle started off after ODM’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna announced during a joint meeting between Jubilee and ODM’s members that they had decided that Oluoch was the preferred candidate for Mathare’s Parliamentary seat.
However, Bahati clapped back and called on a press briefing where he announced that he will not step down and that Azimio’s leaders should quit misleading people.
The two have now taken their war to social media where they have continued to exchange bitter statements.
Talking to Twitter, Sifuna thanked Jubilee members for agreeing on Anthony Oluoch as the right candidate.
“Asante sana Jubilee Party Nairobi for resolving the Mathare question for us. We have now a candidate, Hiyo Kijana ya kulia nitachukua apology kwa Diana personally,” wrote Sifuna.
Musician Bahati wrote back;
“Keep your mouth away from mentioning my wife in your cheap politics!!! Have some respect for women,” responded Bahati.
The award-winning gospel artist has shown his resilience on the matter. He has further gone ahead to continue his campaigns all over social media claiming that his opponents are just afraid and assuring Kenyans of his name being on the Ballot.
“They are very afraid of this young man from Mathare…They have gathered together to fight a youth…But God got us!!!” continued the singer, “Dear Mathare; Your son will be on the ballot on the 9th of August.”
