Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has shared the reason as to why he decided to join campus and do a total of 4 degrees.
Speaking in an interview with Willis Raburu, he said that he opted on doing four degrees so that he could make up for his family that wasn’t able to go to school.
“I decided to do four degrees: the architectural science first-class honors was for my mother, then after that I did a masters in architectural science for my sister, then after that I did a law degree for my brother, then a masters in law for myself.
So I wanted to do a degree for everybody in that house, so that was the motivation.”
He also did that because, as they grew up in their time, there was a notion that education was the key to success, and to him, this served as motivation enough as he worked towards ensuring that he had many keys to success, leave alone being selected by his family members to go to school.
The Azimio la Umoja party member hinted that what he had witnessed happening to his mother from the brutal policemen motivated him even more to work hard so that they were out of the situation and position they were in, which is poverty and misfortune.
He narrated his journey of leadership from childhood, when he was a student leader, to now, saying that he has been praying hard to become a leader so that he gets to help the needy as well.
“The reason why I am in leadership and the reason why I have brought this up is because I always asked God to give me an opportunity should he remove me from the slums, and in return, I would help these people.
The best way to help these people is in leadership; that’s where I can get people to assist.”
