Embakasi East Member of Parliament Hon. Babu Owino has announced that he is now the chief opposition leader, promising to fight for the interests of Kenyans.

In his statement today, Owino criticized former opposition members who have joined forces with the government, claiming that their new alliances have made them less effective at addressing the needs of ordinary people. “There are so many people who were in the opposition and are now in bed with the government. My interest is to fight for Kenyans,” Owino said. 

Owino shared his disappointment with the ODM members who have betrayed their party terming the situation as simply saddening.

This announcement has stirred reactions across the political scene, Supporters of Owino view his new role as a needed check on the government and believe his dedication to public issues is a positive change.   

However, some critics question the timing and intentions behind Owino’s move, suggesting that his declaration might be a way to gain more political influence or visibility, especially with upcoming elections. Others are concerned that his confrontational style might make political discussions more difficult. 

Owino is known for his energetic and often controversial approach to politics. His new role as chief opposition leader will require him to both challenge the government and offer solutions to the country’s problems. How successful he will be in this role remains to be seen. He is currently the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East.
