Kenyan content creator and actress Jacky Vike, commonly known as ‘Awinja‘, has shared her motherhood journey.

Speaking to our journalist SilvaKido, Awinja shared an insight on her first time as a mother.

The beloved actress, who has won hearts with her roles in various television series, shared the joys and challenges of motherhood, offering fans a glimpse into her life beyond the screen.

According to her, the first time being a mother was completely different because she never knew how it would go considering the fact that she was also an actress who used to act in the popular TV series ‘Papa Shirandula’ but since she had been exposed to rearing her brother’s kids she at least had a know of things.

When I was having my child, I was still doing Papa Shirandula. It was a bit challenging. It was confusing for me, and I thank my team because they were very understanding. Each time I would tell them to give me time to go and see my child, they would ask me to go without hesitation.”

Balancing Career and Family


Awinja’s journey as a working mother is particularly inspiring. Balancing her successful career with the responsibilities of raising a child has not been easy, but she has managed to find a harmonious balance.

Awinja acknowledges the importance of having a strong support system. Crediting her friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support, which has been crucial in her journey as a mother.

The working environment in Papa Shirandula was amazing; they understood what I was going through, and it was the fact that I was working around mothers who offered me guidance… It was not easy, but with time, you get to adapt and balance the two.” Awinja said.
