Atwoli defends President Ruto over his expensive trip to the US

Published on

President Ruto is back to the country after his 4-day tour to the US, which saw him meet renowned leaders such as Barrack Obama & Joe Biden.
His move to the state was with an aim of improving relations between the two countries, and also make an agreement with Joe Biden on whether Kenyan soldiers should be deployed to Haiti.
The sumptuous trip was criticized by a section of netizens, who believe it was unnecessary for him to spend Ksh 200 Million on his transport alone, which was with a private jet.

Atwoli to Ruto’s defense

While most netizens criticized him for the exorbitant trip, Atwoli has now come to Ruto’s defense.

The COTU Secretary General explained that it wouldn’t make sense for the president to travel with public jets, adding that it would tarnish his reputation.

”President mzima aende na Kenya Airways ulaya? Ata ukiongea watu wengine wakuskie watashangaa sana. Na kuenda America ni zaidi ya masaa kumi na nane, saa zingine ishirini, because of stop-overs. Na kama unalilia 200 Million, utaletea waluhya 1 billion shillings?,” Atwoli started off.
Atwoli stated that he used over 200 million shillings in a recent meeting to bring leaders to Bukhungu.

Despite the hefty criticism, Ruto remains optimistic that his trip will bring greener pastures to Kenya.
