Akothee Discloses The Reason On Why She Quit Church

Kenyan popular businesswoman and entrepreneur Akothee has shared the reason why she decided to quit church.

According to Akothee, she decided to stop going to church because when her marriage hit rock bottom, all their friends from church sided with her exes and judged her harshly, and she was left to grieve alone without anyone checking on her.

Akothee swore to never go to church because even the songs that they could sing in church could sometimes trigger bad emotions inside her that were hard for her to control.

Well, I left CHURCH and Joined the WORLD because, when my marriage hit rock bottom, all our friends from church took my ex’s side, and I was rejected and judged harshly. None of them reached out to me; I was left to die. When I reached out, they felt like they were talking to a sinner who had just been resurrected from Hell.

This hurt me so much that I had to let go and look for a new circle of friends. I avoided going to church because most of the songs we used to sing with my children and their dad would trigger bad emotions,😭 and since I never wanted my children to see my tears or my broken self.”

Akothee went on, saying that she even reached a point where she could take her children out to a different place so that she wouldn’t break down in front of them.

“I took them to the big tree on the beach every Saturday. I knew it was wrong, but I was not strong enough again. I was very broke. But not so broke to provide for my children.”

Not even her mother’s prayers could make her go back to church.

“The Akothee you see now, even my own parents can’t figure her out. It was a shock to my mother to see me like this. My mother prayed all kinds of prayers and tried all her best to bring me back to Church.”

She concluded by insisting that she’s no one’s child role model and should not be followed. What people should do, though, is learn from her mistakes.
