Kenyan digital creator and brand influencer Ajib Gathoni has openly revealed that she was recently diagnosed with adenomyosis.
For starters, adenomyosis is a gynecologic condition that is mostly experienced by women, as it causes endometrial tissue in the lining of the uterus to grow into the muscular wall of the uterus. It enlarges the uterus and may lead to very heavy menstrual bleeding.

She broke the news via her social media page, saying that it was something she just realized she had after visiting a gynecologist.
“I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis….This is a condition where cells from the uterus lining grow into the uterus muscle. Okay, this is not harmful per se, but it’s the one that causes the heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding and the severe cramping.” Part of Ajib Gathoni’s statement read:
She, however, assured her fans that she is doing fine and getting back to her lifestyle having been guided by her gynaecologist on the type of medication she should take so that she doesn’t experience more pain during her periods.
“I was given medication, which I’m supposed to take days before my periods and the days of as well. My next appointment is in October, and I’m supposed to go back with feedback. Maam, I’m still in mad pain, that’s my feedback, but this is supposed to go away with time if I take my medication.” Ajib ‘s statement read:
Below are some of the causes of Andenomyosis:
Doctors are yet to discover what causes them but from the assessments they have done they have some theories they believe could be causing it which are:
Invasive cells. Cells from the uterine lining might invade the muscle wall. If you have surgery on your uterus, such as a C-section, that might provide an opening for cells to spread.
Developmental origins. Some cells might grow in the wrong place during fetal development, meaning you’re born with the misplaced tissue already in the muscle wall.
Inflammation after childbirth. The uterine lining can get inflamed after childbirth, which might cause a breakdown in the barrier between the lining and the muscle wall.
