The Kenyan entertainment industry mourns the loss of talented actress Winnie Bwire Ndubi, known affectionately as “Dida.” After a courageous battle with cancer, she passed away on September 5, 2024, while receiving treatment in Turkey.

The family released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief and acknowledging God’s will. They also extended their gratitude to the public for their unwavering support, prayers, and generous contributions during Winnie’s difficult journey.

Winnie Bwire, a versatile artist from the Kenyan coast, made significant contributions to the entertainment industry. Her talents extended beyond acting, encompassing scriptwriting, songwriting, singing, painting, and interior design. She was also a successful businesswoman and a devoted mother.

Winnie’s acting career took flight in 2014 when she made her debut in the series “Penzi” on Raia TV. She went on to appear in various productions, including “Kisasa,” “Tehanini,” and “Kalimani Dynasty.” However, her most notable role was as Dida in the popular Swahili telenovela “Sultana” on Citizen TV.

In “Sultana,” Winnie portrayed a complex character caught in a love triangle with Jabali Junior and the blind protagonist, Sultana. Her performance showcased her ability to navigate the complexities of her character’s emotions and relationships.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Winnie Bwire was also known for her openness about her cancer battle. She shared her experiences on social media, inspiring others with her courage and resilience.

The loss of Winnie Bwire Ndubi is a significant blow to the Kenyan entertainment industry. Her talent, dedication, and positive spirit will be deeply missed.
