Rally driver Maxine Wahome (25 years old) has been released on bond of 2 million at the Milimani law court.
The Rally driver had been charged with murdering her boyfriend Assad Khan but the judge (Lilian Mutende) offered an option to post bail which is what she exactly did and has walked.
“I hereby grant the accused a bond sh 2 million with surety of a similar amount. Further orders are that the accused deposits her passport in court.”
“The Prosecution did not advance any compelling reasons to warrant the court to deny her bond.” said Mutende. She went on, adding that posting bail is her constitutional right and there’s nothing wrong with her doing exactly that.
Mahome defended herself, saying she had nothing to do with the death of her boyfriend. And If there should be any ruling, it should fall on her Boyfriend and not her.
Maxine is however expected to hand the court her passport to prevent her from travelling out of the country and if at all she should the court has to agree to it first.
She has also been advised against reaching out to witnesses as this will make her bond not stand.
The case has been adjourned until the 19th of April 2023.
