“THIS IS HARRASMENT!” Jimi Wanjigi Claims as Unmarked Vehicles Park Outside His Muthaiga Home

Published on

Businessman and politician Jimi Wanjigi has raised concerns over what he describes as harassment after unknown individuals parked unmarked vehicles outside his Muthaiga residence for a week. Wanjigi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration, claiming the vehicles were equipped with network jammers that disrupted communication at his home.

Why have unmarked vehicles been outside my residence in Muthaiga for the last week? This is clearly harassment for me and my family. These vehicles are jamming all communication to my residence!” Wanjigi tweeted on Friday, September 13.

Wanjigi’s complaints come shortly after the High Court in Nairobi issued an order barring the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli from entering his home. The court ruling, made in response to a raid in August, prevents law enforcement from accessing his residence until his case is fully heard and determined.

During the August raid, Wanjigi claims police confiscated valuables worth millions of shillings, including jewellery, mobile devices, and cash. The items reportedly taken include: expensive rings, necklaces, high-end smartphones, and communication gadgets. Wanjigi listed the stolen jewellery’s value at KSh 5.2 million ($40,319) and diamond rings at KSh 891,000 ($6,912). Additionally, officers allegedly took an iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Flip 5 devices, and KSh 73,000 ($570) in cash.

Justice Bahati Mwamuye, who presided over the case, issued a conservatory order protecting Wanjigi from any further police action. The businessman has argued that the police had no legitimate grounds for their raid and described their actions as attempts to intimidate him.

As the court battle continues, Wanjigi and his legal team are seeking justice and the return of all the items taken during the police operation.
