Former presidential candidate Mohammed Abduba Dida, currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in the United States, recently lost a legal challenge against his detention conditions.
Dida, who was convicted of stalking and intimidation in 2022, filed a lawsuit alleging violations of his constitutional rights. He claimed that he had been denied access to educational programs and medical care while incarcerated.
However, the court dismissed Dida’s claims, finding that he had failed to establish a constitutional basis for his grievances. The court’s decision marks the third time Dida has had a case dismissed.
Dida, who gained national attention during the 2013 presidential election, has been serving his sentence at the Big Muddy River Correctional Center in Illinois since November 2022. He is expected to be released in April 2029.
