Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has dismissed allegations that he faces an imminent impeachment, labeling them as baseless rumors. Speaking at the launch of Phase 3 of the ‘Dishi Na County School Feeding Program’ at Umoja 1 Primary School, Sakaja denied claims that a motion was being prepared by a group of MCAs to remove him from office.

The Governor made it clear that his administration will not be distracted by what he described as “empty talk.” He assured Nairobi residents that his government is focused on delivering on its promises. “We will not be distracted by naysayers. Our focus is on delivering what we promised,” he stated.

During his speech, Sakaja highlighted the progress his administration has made, including the successful establishment of 17 kitchens in 17 sub-counties as part of the feeding program, which aims to provide nutritious meals to school children across Nairobi.

Addressing his executive team, Sakaja urged them to disregard the rumors and concentrate on their mandate to serve the people of Nairobi. “We have a mandate, and we don’t have time for rumors. Our priority is to work for our people, not to engage in gossip,” he affirmed.

Sakaja also refuted claims that he had been removed from President William Ruto’s delegation to China. He clarified that he was never part of the president’s entourage, as he had prior commitments to oversee the launch of key projects in Nairobi “which plane are people talking about? I was supposed to be in Umoja today, not in China. Those are just rumors,” he quipped.

The Governor took the opportunity to express his support for President Ruto’s efforts to bring the opposition into the government he added that many were skeptical about my decision to work with the opposition, but now it’s clear that we have a national government of inclusivity that will deliver.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to serving Nairobi residents and dismissed any claims that could divert attention from his administration’s goals.
