Omosh, who was speaking during an interview with Obinna, said for years, alcohol had been his constant companion, a way to cope with stress, numb pain, and escape reality. Yet, as time went on, he began to see the toll it was taking on his health, relationships, and overall sense of self.

“Nilikaanga peke yangu nikajiuliza mimi enyewe nikiendlea hivi, I am dying…and I had to change at all costs.” Omosh shared.

Omosh’s turning point came when he realized that his life was slipping away, one drink at a time. He saw how his addiction was eroding his physical health, making him lose appetite. More than that, he noticed the impact on his mental health; the anxiety and depression that followed his drinking binges were becoming unbearable.

“Turning point yangu ilikua wakati nilishndwa kuruka kamtaro kamdogo hivi, nilishindwa kuruka, niko sober natetemeka naona nitaanguka nilishindwa kabisa kuruka nikazunguka nilikua naona kama nitadunda nikarudi kwa base nikaa kaa chini nikajiuliza mimindio nimeshindwa kuruka hiyo mtaro?

Kizangila tena ukikunywa pombe utadunda ndani… haitakua mtaro utadunda kwa grave… Nilikaa hapo nikalia sana.” Omosh narrated.

He managed to recollect himself to go all the way back home and made a decision to never ever take alcohol again.

Omosh gave his Christ to Jesus at 57 years old, something he says has given him peace ever since.

Omosh decided to seek forgiveness and help from God to change his old ways. ‘Nilianza kuskia fegi inanuka viziii na sijui God alikua anangoja nini…niliskia kihappiness kingine.’

Omosh is proud of his decision to quit alcohol, even though the journey continues to be an ongoing process. He shares his story to inspire others facing similar struggles, reminding them that it’s never too late to reclaim your life and make a change, no matter how deep the addiction may seem. He also concluded by urging youths and the public not to consider trying it, as it is something that might ruin your life.

“Mimi husemanga wallahi tena kama uko hapo na haujawahi gusa, wallahi nakuomba na nakusihi, chorea hiyo street. Kama haitakuzamisha down utakuja lia na kitu painful ni itakua ngumu kuacha.” Omosh shared.
