Former Tahidi High actor Omosh has once again shared his previous struggles with alcohol and his journey toward sobriety. In an interview with Oga Obinna, he shared his regrets and the lessons he learned from his past.

He further narrated his first encounter with drugs. According to Omosh, his friends introduced him to alcohol and cigarrettes.

Immediately after finishing his last exams in high school, Omosh started taking alcohol after friends influenced him.

His intake of drugs increased as he became a tout after his studies. His tout friends would convince him to take all kinds of drugs, including ‘veve’ and ‘tap tap’.

Despite being sick with ‘ulcers’, Omosh was an alcohol addict and couldn’t help himself from going to the bar on a daily basis.

Journey to sobriety

Omosh revealed that his history with alcohol was filled with folly and self-destruction. He lamented the “silly nicknames” he acquired from his fellow alcoholics and the poverty that resulted from his excessive drinking.

He shared a poignant moment when he wept profusely, pleading with God to save him from his destructive path.

“I had since stopped taking alcohol but quitting cigarettes was the problem and I prayed for one hour to God to help me break the yoke of nicotine in my life…I cried as I prayed,” he recounted.

Omosh said that God took him down memory lane, auditing his life and reminding him of his upbringing in a Christian family. He shared a powerful moment when God spoke directly to him, saying,

“Omosh, your cry has reached me, you are redeemed.”

From that moment, Omosh felt the urge to smoke cigarettes fade away. He laid down his burdens and moved forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

The TV actor emphasized that his decision to quit drinking and smoking wasn’t just about getting rich but about saving his soul. He became faithful to the Redeemed Gospel Church in Nairobi’s Komarock estate, finding solace and support in the community.
