Renowned Kenyan rapper Prezzo shocked attendees when he collapsed during the high-profile launch of The Bahati’s Empire reality TV show at the Westwood Hotel on May 6. The glamorous event, graced by celebrities, media personalities, and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, quickly turned concerning when Prezzo suffered what appeared to be a seizure.
During an August 21 episode of his podcast Syllabus of Life, Prezzo invited fellow musician Bahati as a guest. The two discussed various topics, including their music careers and personal lives. However, the conversation took a more serious turn when Bahati addressed what he referred to as “the elephant in the room”—Prezzo’s collapse at the launch.
Bahati, with a hint of humour, asked if Prezzo had fainted because he was overwhelmed by the presence of the Deputy President. “Lakini kwa launch bana, I was like, President ameona Gachagua, aka faint. What was wrong bana? You wanna leave power before your time?” Bahati quipped, playfully referring to Prezzo as “President.”
Prezzo clarified that his collapse had nothing to do with the Deputy President’s presence. Instead, he explained that he had been extremely busy in the week leading up to the launch, and the stress and exhaustion caught up with him.

“Bahati knows me very well; if there’s a function, he tells me a week in advance and reminds me daily“. On the day of the launch, I was at the office when Bahati called to ask what time I was arriving. That’s when I remembered—oh, it’s today! I hurriedly left, but it wasn’t the DP that made me faint; it happened during a red carpet interview,” Prezzo explained.
Bahati admitted that he initially thought Prezzo’s collapse was a deliberate move to steal the spotlight from the launch. “The next day, I’m like, I’m selling my show; why is Prezzo trying to take my shine? You were trending at the top,” Bahati said, laughing.
Prezzo quickly dismissed these speculations, explaining that the seizure was due to stress and overworking himself. “Kuna watu wengi walisema ilikuwa publicity stunt. But when you look at that clip, it’s clear the seizure happened during the red carpet interview. I don’t have a history of epilepsy,” he clarified.
After the incident, Prezzo sought medical attention and was advised to slow down. Despite the scare, he praised Bahati, noting that he sees a lot of himself in the younger artist, especially in his willingness to take risks. The two artists reaffirmed their mutual respect and support for one another during the conversation.
