YY’s wife Marya Okoth is a well known actress from popular YT series A Nurse Toto where she played the role of a nasty nurse with an attitude worse than that of an Mpesa agent… if you gerrit, you gerrit.
With that said, she remains among the low key actresses who rarely share their private life on social media.
However speaking during recent interview with Mungai Eve, the mother of one got candid about her experience with child birth which she says was smooth.
According to Marya Okoth, she only labored for three hours before the arrival of their daughter.
“I labored for three hours. My pregnancy and labor experience were very smooth.” Marya told Mungai Eve.
However four months down the line – things started getting complicated for her as she could not feel or move one of her legs.
One day four months after I delivered I tried changing positions and I couldn’t. I couldn’t feel one leg, it was like the leg wasn’t there at all, Marya went on to narrate.
Assuming this was just a small issue, Marya says a trip to the hospital confirmed otherwise as she ended up getting hospitalized for 6 months.
We went to the hospital and thought it was a quick stop. The doctors found I had blood clots. I had to be admitted. After the clots dissolved my leg was still unresponsive. I had to undergo an MRI. I ended up in hospital for 6 months. When I got pregnant, the baby lay on the nerves near the spine and I ended up having water in my discs. Four months after the birth of my daughter my nerves collapsed, she went on.
According to Marya her doctors gave her two options of either surgery or therapy – through medication – however insisted the surgery would be risky hence the reason she went for the second option.
The doctor advised me against it because of how delicate it is.It was easier to lose a leg than not to recover from the surgery. I was given medication to dry up the water before starting therapy however there was no guarantee that I would be well. Marya narrated.
Having gone through this with a newborn by her side, Marya says if not for her husband’s dedication and love towards her – she wouldn’t have had it as easy as she did.
