Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has leveled serious accusations against security agencies, claiming unwarranted harassment of himself and his allies. In a fiery speech on Sunday, he detailed incidents of intimidation, including a shooting incident involving a member of his staff.
Gachagua alleged that a former senior intelligence officer, who he had tasked with investigating alcohol and drug abuse, was shot at while leaving his home. He expressed frustration over the lack of investigation into the matter, suggesting a deliberate attempt to intimidate him.

The DP also criticized the recent actions of security agencies in relation to the ongoing political climate. He claimed that his staff were subjected to unwarranted questioning over the recent protests, suggesting a targeted campaign to tarnish his image.
Gachagua further revealed a confrontation with President Ruto over the issue, emphasizing their earlier agreement not to use security agencies for political ends. He cited incidents involving Embakasi Central and North MPs as examples of the alleged overreach.
The DP’s accusations have reignited tensions between the executive and security agencies, raising questions about the role of security forces in a democratic dispensation.
