National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has announced that Members of Parliament will now resume voting on the already-withdrawn 2024 Finance Bill.
Moses Wetangula, who was addressing the press earlier today, said that the president having declined the 2024 Finance Bill means that they will have to vote all over again.
“The President declined to ascend the Finance Bill 2024 and send it back with a memorandum indicating that it rejected all the clauses of the bill so that the memorandum and rejection will also be part of the business of the House.
Remember, under our standing orders, when the president sends a memorandum of that nature, any member who wants to overturn that memorandum…must garner 2 thirds of the members of the house, that is, about 233 or thereabouts of members of the house, and so we will place it before the house.” Moses Wetangula said.
He dismissed claims that the bill was going to be operational within 14 days of the rejection of the memorandum, saying it is not true and the bill is in limbo, awaiting the next vote on it from the house of members.
This comes after Parliament was invaded, or rather occupied, by angry protestors who were protesting against passing the 2024 Finance Bill, which was not siding with many Kenyans.

Damage Parliament sustained after being occupied
Moses Wetangula also shared the damage that Parliament suffered as assessed by the insurance, saying it cost 94 million, but luckily enough they had insurance cover, and work has already started on restoring the damaged buildings, furniture, and other equipment within the premises of Parliament.
