The Kenya police are on high alert during the ongoing anti-government protests that have already kicked off in several parts of the country.

Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, who was appointed after Japhet Koome resigned from the position. Japhet Koome resigned just a day after President William Ruto dismissed almost his entire cabinet.

Douglas Kanja has now warned of potential disruptions as youth-led protests commence across the country today.

While acknowledging the constitutional right to peaceful assembly, Kanja expressed deep concern over past demonstrations that have turned violent, leading to loss of life and property damage.

The police chief revealed that intelligence indicates organized criminal groups may attempt to infiltrate the protests, potentially endangering demonstrators. Despite this, Kanja assured the public that the police are committed to maintaining order and protecting citizens.

The Inspector General urged protesters to remain peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all involved.
