Rosie, the Kenyan nanny who went viral for her bond with Lebanese children, has finally opened up about her heart-wrenching decision to leave her job. Contrary to rumors, her employers treated her well, but missing her own children in Kenya proved too difficult.

A Difficult Choice

Initially returning to Kenya due to a round-trip ticket, Rosie reveals she already planned to leave her position. Her own children, struggling with abandonment after forming a strong bond with their mother, became a constant source of worry.

“My teenage daughter needed me,” Rosie shared. “Seeing them cry was hard, and I couldn’t focus on work knowing they felt neglected.”

Torn Between Love and Responsibility

Rosie faced a tough choice: financial security for her family as a single mom or being there for her children during their crucial teenage years. The emotional toll of being away from her kids, combined with her employers’ children viewing her as another mother, became overwhelming.

Prioritizing Family

Rosie ultimately chose her family. Though concerned they might have done something wrong, her employers understood the situation. Rosie emphasized the importance of being present for her children, especially after her own difficult teenage years.

Memories and Moving Forward

Rosie’s own experience of lacking parental guidance during her teenage years, which led to a pregnancy at 14, fueled her desire to be there for her own children. Their past trauma from a failed marriage further solidified her decision.

A Love Divided

Despite the challenges, Rosie remained dedicated to her employers’ children until the very end. “Both sets of children loved me dearly,” she said, acknowledging the difficulty of dividing her affection.

New Beginnings

Back in Kenya, Rosie is currently unemployed but plans to start a new venture. Her main focus, however, is on being near her children. She also refuted rumors of pregnancy being the reason for her departure.

Rosie’s story highlights the complex emotions faced by migrant workers, torn between financial needs and the desire to be present for their families.
