Mike Sonko responds to claims he funded for the coffins displayed by protestors in Nairobi CBD

Published on

Mike Sonko showed massive support to GenZ who took to the streets to protest against Finance Bill 2024.

He proved himself through several posts where he talked on the importance of the govt listening to the youths who are the future but never did he join them on the streets for the protests.

His support has however left him in difficult position after it was rumored he was among the said MP’s who paid goons to loot Nairobi CBD shops and stalls….not forgetting the many caskets that were displayed on Moi Avenue road on 2nd July 2024.

Sonko responds

Addressing this through his social media pages, Sonko denied having paid anyone nor did he purchase the coffins brought out to play on Tuesday’s ‘protests.’

I have seen kuna watu, who like tarnishing my name by spreading cheap propaganda and lies with their fake intelligence ati I was the one who organized for the goons to loot in CBD na coffins to be brought to the CBD as well. Read part of his post.

In his defense, Mike Sonko asked those accusing him to first check where and who purchased the coffins since they were bought in CBD. He also asked for the number plate of the blue truck transporting them to be checked before they accuse him of funding for them.

Mike Sonko went on to point fingers at a certain activist who he says is his greatest enemy as one of the people seen on CCTV footage carrying the said coffins.

Here is the correct intelligence: The coffins were purchased within the city. They were ferried to the CBD in a blue canter. Some known activists, one of them, my biggest enemy, was even captured live on camera carrying the said coffins. He went on.

This comes hours after said politicians were said to have hired goons from popular ghetto areas in Nairobi to loot and cause destruction in the city…hoping to put the blame on Gen Z protestors.
