Despite Kenyans fighting the high cost of living in the country, members of parliament are expected to receive a hefty salary increment this month.
Deputy IG and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin will now be earning Ksh Ksh684,233 from Ksh652,742.
MPs and Senators will get a raise to Ksh739,600 from the past Ksh725,502.
Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General were among the biggest beneficiaries with a salary raise of Ksh33,000.
They will now earn a new wage of Ksh 990,000, compared to their previous salary of Ksh 957,000.
Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and Ruto will have their salaries retained at Ksh 1,227,188 and Ksh1,443,750 respectively.

An increase of Ksh15,251 will benefit the Majority and Minority leaders in both houses. The leaders—Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Opiyo Wandayi, Kimani Ichung’wah, and Stewart Madzayo—will receive 800,019 from Ksh784,768.
Speakers of the parliament will get an increment from Ksh1,185,327 to Ksh1,208,362. Their deputies will also be getting a raise from Ksh948,261 to Ksh966,690.
