Comedian Oga Obinna has explained why he isn’t certain he will make it to Fred Omondi’s funeral, despite it being on the weekend.
Obinna, who was speaking during his weekly show alongside Dem Wa Facebook, said he might just miss out on Fred Omondi’s send-off because that is the very day he will be marching on the streets, creating men’s mental health awareness.
“I will not be able to go because I am doing something called the Men’s Mental Health Awareness Walk… I had started this before the demise of Fred Omondi, and a lot of people are involved, and I am the founder, so it is hard for me to leave. I have to be there to see the vision come to life.” Obinna said.
Obinna confirmed that the police have given them a green light to march on the streets and promised to provide security as they walk, encouraging all men around Nairobi to turn up at Uhuru Park and be part of the whole experience.
“We shall have a free medical checkup on location, then also mtaongeleshwa kama uko na stress bipolar and stress; this is something you don’t want to miss out on.” Obinna said.
Obinna decided to come up with the initiative because, for one, men rarely talk, and because global statistics show that 75% of suicides committed globally are by men, he believes this initiative will help men a lot.
Obinna, however, said he isn’t certain that he will entirely miss Fred Omondi’s funeral, but should one of his friends get a chopper, then he might be there.

About Men’s Mental Health Awareness
Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with stress. Mental health is a vital part of the overall well-being. It encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, affecting how we think, feel, and act.
Good mental health helps one cope with the stresses of life, work productively, and make meaningful contributions to our communities.
And June is usually the month of men’s mental health awareness, it is rarely celebrated because men don’t really like prioritizing such things.
