CNN correspondent Larry Madowo faced travel hurdles while returning to Kenya to cover the ongoing protests against the finance bill. Despite facing a delayed flight and lost luggage, Madowo’s dedication to reporting the story shines through.
Struggles Before Takeoff
Madowo, known for his outspoken stances, publicly acknowledged Kenya Airways for delaying their flight to accommodate his return. This delay potentially threatened his ability to cover the protests on time. Demonstrating his commitment, Madowo took to Instagram, stating (translated): “I boarded a night bus from Amsterdam to return to Nairobi. I was running very late, but Kenya Airways came through for me. Canceled my vacation to return to Kenya to cover tomorrow’s protests.”
Travel Troubles Persist
Even after arriving in Nairobi, Madowo encountered another setback. He landed without his luggage, which KLM airlines apparently failed to load onto his flight. However, his social media post reflected his perseverance: “Just arrived. KLM lost my bags, so they didn’t get loaded to Nairobi, but we move!”
