The late Fred Omondi has been mourned as one of the greats in the entertainment industry. His unique comedy style made an irreplaceable niche at Churchill Show a few years ago.

Recently, a show was set up in honour of the jester. The event, titled ‘Fred Omondi: The Last Laugh,’ attracted various celebrities celebrating the comedian’s life, tragically cut short in a road accident last week.

Apart from the show, numerous celebrities also took to their social media to mourn Fred and share their memories which they treasured with him.

Comedian Eddie Butita was among the creatives that shared their memories with Fred.

Singer and businessman KRG wasn’t left behind. Sharing with SPM Buzz in a recent interview, KRG stated how he slowly became friends with Fred.

”He used to work at our club the last Sundays for 4 months straight. It was a branch and he used kuleta wasanii wa Ohangla uko. Ukisha mkanja yake anapotea na mababy wake. He was a good youth, full of life, still on top of his game,” KRG stated.

Fred was also known for his numerous club gigs, and his untimely demise reportedly caught him while he was on his way for another gig at around 4 a.m.

During the same event, Ababu Namwamba’s speech stood out as he was met with boos and chants of “Ruto must go,” a reaction to his open support for the controversial Finance Bill.

In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, Namwamba acknowledged the booing as evidence of Kenya’s democratic spirit.

“We recognize that energy, we appreciate it, but we shall pay respects to Fredrick (Fred) Omondi tonight. We live in an amazing country where everybody has a right to say their bit. Asanteni sana. Keep booing, keep cheering, keep saying no as others say yes,” he stated.
