Renowned film director Phil was among the numerous celebrities who showed up at the occupy parliament protests that happened yesterday.
Most citizens had their placards out to demonstrate against passing of the financial bill.
The director’s placard stood out as it suggested a lot.
The placard read, “Ata bado sijapona and am on my second divorce with the government” (I have not even healed and am already on the second divorce with the government).
Karanja’s message on the placard went viral, sparking praise for his creativity and boldness. It resonated with Kenyans because it cleverly linked his personal struggles to the wider political climate, making it both humorous and impactful.
The director and Kate Actress have now separated for several months. Their announcement on social media suggested that it was a mutual deal to decide their divorce; even though they had thrown a lavish wedding.
“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wishes for privacy for us and our children. Signed Kate and Phil.”

Fight against finance bill
The week has been quite busy as the readings on the finance bill continue in parliament. Yesterday, 204 members of parliament voted to support the finance bill; while only 105 members of parliament voted against it. Kenyans are still expressing their disenchantment with the MPs who voted in support of the bill. The fate of the bill is yet to be decided.
