Mombasa OCS explains why he will not tolerate any protest in the county

Mombasa Central Police Station OCS Peter Mugambi denied signing the letter approving the Finance Bill protests that rocked the county.

While being confronted by the protesters on Wednesday, the OCS declared the protests illegal, explaining that the participants had yet to lodge a formal application.

Maandamano hakuna tafadhali. Let us be peaceful..mukitaka maandamano muandike barua mulete kwangu. Watu waende biashara.”

Translation: “I am the OCS, and I do not have that letter you are claiming you sent. I am., therefore, declaring that there should be no protests. Let us be peaceful. If you want protests, write a letter to my office.”

One of the protesters, however, presented a digital copy to the OCS, who refuted receiving it and denied appending his signature.

Even while Parliament was debating the ideas, demonstrators demanding the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024 in its entirety took to the streets of Mombasa.

Even so, The demonstrators would not back down, and the police responded by shooting tear gas at them, unleashing chaos throughout the seaside city.
