Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has given in to the public’s demand that he intervene to prevent the 2024 Finance Bill from being passed.
Peter Salasya, through his Twitter account (X), assured Kenyans that he will be available and obliged to the people’s call.
“Finance bill voting is next week, and I want to promise Kenyans I won’t be absent; I will be available to make the decision.
Good evening. Allow me to continue listening to CS Finance.”
Responding to the people’s plea, he promised he would step up and do exactly the same thing that the Taiwan Member of Parliament did, which was grabbed the bill and ran away with it, preventing it from being passed.
“Nataka is exactly outfitted like this colleague of mine from Taiwan. That day, I won’t let you down. NITASABABISHA.” Salasya promised.
The Mumias East Member of Parliament also urged his fellow members to consider taking measures.
“The solution we have for now is to cut down these budgets on areas not necessary, or else tutaanguka kura kama Mps. Living within our means means lowering our budgets below what we had last year. Let’s be honest with ourselves. Crying #financebill2024 without touching on budget is useless.” Salasya’s statement read:.

#Reject the finance bill is what is trending on Twitter. The reason why everyone is against it is because there are huge new taxes that will deprive even low-earning netizens, preventing them from growing. And it is also not fair because not everyone is going to be taxed. It is a motion that has a lot of unanswered questions, hopefully come next week there will be a clear solution to all these, a solution or rather move which will favor all Kenyans at large. But at the meantime everyone is advocating against the bill urging their area Mcas, Mps, Governors, Senators, basically all government officials to vote against it.
