Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has come to defend 19 year old Ian Njoroge, who beat up a police officer recently and got arrested.
According to Sonko, the young man’s mother called him a day ago to plead with him to intervene.
In their conversation, Njoroge’s mother referred to him as an obedient boy, who has been raised in church.
She added that it was just a mis-understanding that led him to indulged in the same.

Sonko to the rescue
Sonko, upon hearing the mother’s cry, explained that he intervened and talked to both parties, including the officer who had been assaulted.
”ONLY A PARENT UNDERSTANDS CHILDBIRTH PAINS
After an incident where a motorist Ian Njoroge attacked a traffic police officer, yesterday I received a distress call from the mother of the said motorist, asking me to intervene. Her son is a first-year student at the Technical University of Kenya. As a parent, I could also feel her pain. So, I took the initiative to contact the assaulted officer who was once my bodyguard when I was an Mp and humbly requested for forgiveness.
Fortunately, the officer has accepted the family’s apology and is willing to forgive Ian,” Sonko wrote.
For now, the fate of the young man remains on the officer who was assaulted. Talks between the two families are still ongoing.
