Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has shared the effects of Miraa, which he chewed previously while at his leadership position.
His sentiments come at a time when the colliquy of banning Miraa is widespread in the country.
”Nikirudi back to my stress that I had those years, nikachapa kidogo mpaka huko chini mashini ikakataa. Naongea hivi kwa sababu watu hawataki kuongea.
Nimekuwa na hio situation for three times in my life. Kesi ya kwanza nilikuwa senator. ”

He continued to state that there’s an alternative to Muguka.
”Leaders of western Province wakona solution ya hii problem ya Muguka. We have a crop from Western Province called mukhombero. Actually, it’s cheaper than Muguka.”
He said that Khalwale used to supply him with Mukhombero while he was a member of government.
He urged people to replace Muguka with Mukhombero, adding that it will help men to rekindle any problems with their bedroom skills.
Despite some leaders supporting the ban, President Ruto maintained that the plant is legal. His stand on the matter comes as a huge relief for miraa and muguka farmers.
The ban evoked mixed reactions among farmers, consumers and politicians from Embu County.
