Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto has explained why he chose to go with a private jet rather than using Kenya Airlines, which many Kenyans felt would have been better and cheaper.
This comes after many on Twitter called him out, saying he was preaching water and drinking wine by telling people to live within their means, whereas he was leaving the country with a private jet that many thought costed millions of money rather than using Kenyan airlines which was fair.
President William Ruto decided to clarify that he did not overspend at the expense of taxpayers during his 4-day trip to the United States saying his trip with Jet was way cheaper than traveling on a Kenya Airways line.
“Fellow Kenyans, I have noted concerns about my mode of transport to the USA. As a responsible steward of public resources and in keeping with my determination for us to live within our means and that I should lead from the front in so doing, the cost was less than traveling on KQ,” Ruto said.

He assured Kenyans that he is extremely careful with the national resources that his office spends, adding that the previously quoted figure was entirely inflated.
