Kenyan pastor Victor Kanyari is making waves again, this time on TikTok. His antics are leaving some amused, while others are deeply critical.
Kanyari has been pushing the limits of what’s considered appropriate online behavior for a religious leader. Some see it as a desperate attempt for attention, while others defend it as innovative outreach.
During a church service, a female TikToker gifted Kanyari with condoms, panty liners, and Vaseline, then declared her love for him. Kanyari, unfazed, accepted and unwrapped the gifts on the pulpit, sparking a firestorm of mixed reactions.
In another incident, Kanyari tackled sexuality in a bizarre way. He invited a gay Kenyan TikToker, Mpenzi Chokuu, to a live session. Chokuu wore a traditional robe while Kanyari performed a confusing mix of religious pronouncements and a mock exorcism. Chokuu’s playful response, shaking his behind, only added to viewers’ sense of disrespect.
