Over the weekend on Sunday, May 19, 2024, Chelsea destroyed their opponents Bournemouth 2:1 to secure their place in European football next season.
Chelsea’s midfielder, Moses Caicedo, once again proved his worth by firing a stunning shot in the 17th minute of the first half, giving the home team the lead.
Chelsea’s left-winger Raheem Sterling then added another one for the team right after halftime in the 48th minute, an assist that was provided by their attacking midfielder Cole Palmer.
Bournemouth, however, got lucky by an unfortunate incident that happened by the home team, where their defender Badiashille scored an own goal right after Sterling’s goal in the 49th minute, giving them a consoler.
Chelsea finished the EPL in 6th place, right behind Tottenham with 63 points, securing their spot in the European Football League next season.
Bournemouth pressed for a leveller late on and nearly found one when Dominic Solanke failed to hit the target in injury time.
With the victory over Bournemouth, Pochettino’s young but gifted team appears to be playing at its peak for the first time. This makes it five straight Premier League wins.
