‘Mukuchu’ hitmaker Goddy Tennor says singing secular music will not affect his faith as a Christian

Published on

Goddy Tennor is among the young Arbantone artists changing the music industry in the country. However before this, Goddy Tennor says he started off as a gospel artist who released his first song in 2017.

At the time Goddy Tennor says he was just in form one trying to bring a new a touch to gospel music and years later – people have now embraced the Arbantone music style.

Although singing gospel would have suited him more being a Christian, Goddy Tennor says it’s the money that pushed him to sing secular.

Lakini si unajua hio ma gospel za Gen Z? We were bringing those vibes until mahali nikatafuta mukuchu. He said.

I am saved – Goddy Tennor

However singing secular has not changed his faith in God seeing that his parents are deep in the gospel ministry and having raised him as a Christian – has also contributed to his faith remaining steady in God.

Nilikuwa nimeokoka na hadi saa hii nimeokoka, my mum and dad ni watu wakubwa kule church. So it’s their prayers that have led to my success. Hata sa hii wako tuned mbaya. Goddy Tennor told Radio Maisha’s Mwende Macharia.

To prove this, Goddy talked about Mukuchu visuals which he used as an example of his clean content – saying you cannot compare the video to other secular music videos.

When you look at our videos, they are very clean compared to others. Arbantone is strictly yani, then we have mastered how Kenyan music is going. He said.
