Kenya’s famous boyband Sauti Sol have gone on a hiatus that has seen them engage in solo projects for the past several months.
After the public split, the members of the group have been involved in interviews just to find out what really led to their separation despite being the most sought after group in the local context.
While many fans were disappointed by the hiatus, the group remains unified by business, according to one of the members, Savara.
The musician divulged in a recent interview with Mungai Eve that they’re still together, even though not musically.
”You know we call Sauti Sol ‘the government’. Hio ni gava ilitengenezwa over the years. When a government is made over years and then people want to take a break, hamwezi take a break tu hivi. Lazima ita go through a process because there are so many businesses we’re doing together,” Savara started off.
He further maintained that the only thing they’re not doing together is music. But the businesses that they have still bonds them.
Savara went ahead to appreciate the team for the tremendous work that they put in to make their music and businesses work.

Why Sauti Sol Split
In November last year, the lead member of the group Bien-Aime Baraza calibrated the reason for the Boy Band split up.
Speaking at the In My Opinion Podcast, Bien said the Sauti Sol band did not separate because they have been together for a long time.
“We separated because we needed a new job after doing the same job for 20 years. We needed new experiences and new challenges and we got to a point where we were getting a bit complacent and we wanted to try out something new,” he said.
The Band comprised of vocalists Bien, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi, along with guitarist Polycarp Otieno.
