Nigerian artist Davido has explained why he decided to take legal action against Kenya’s media channel K24.
Davido, who was speaking in an interview he was in, opened up, saying that it surprises him that in all of the countries he had toured, only an individual from Kenya decided to pull off a prank on him for sharing false intel against him.
According to ‘Aye’ hitmaker, he opted to take legal action against the media house because he felt like they had gone way too far and wanted to make a statement so that such an incident never happens again, having been advised so by his father.
“Shout out to the people of Kenya; they showed me mad respect. It was just one person who decided to pull off the April Fools joke. We just came from South Africa; we went to Uganda, and then some guy decided to take his phone. At first, I was like, No, I am going to report. But again, I received a call from my father, and it was then that I had a change of thoughts. and decided I was not going to let it go as an April Fool.
I decided to do so because every now and then you fly the plane out of the country, and whenever you are at the airport, you have over 20 policemen on your neck checking for drugs. You know what I’m saying.” Davido shared.

Davido’s Response Upon Realizing K24 Was Propelling False Information
Apparently, what happened was that K24 reported what was termed as ‘fake news by Davido. The prank detailed that Davido and his seven crew members were allegedly held by the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The hitmaker expressed his displeasure at the erroneous reporting, adding that he found the fabrication ‘extremely irresponsible’.
Davido also said that the allegations tainted his name and his brand, insisting that he had not been arrested as alleged in the story and that he had never been arrested by anyone in any of the hundreds of countries he had visited.
“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible, regardless of the light of `April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation,”
While defending their name, K24 Digital said that it was part of their April Fool’s Day editorial offering.
