Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odwiour, famously known as ‘Jalang’o’, has urged Boomplay to start paying artists rather than marketing their songs alone.
Speaking yesterday at the KRG The Don’s event, he talked to a Boomplay agent, telling them to consider paying the artists from now on so that they can be motivated to put in the work and keep releasing tracks.
“Boomplay. Start paying people. Make sure you pay them their money. This is a big song if it is being sold and there are lots of streams. Let the streams and the money that come to the artists be equal,” Jalang’o emphasized.
He urged the company to pay 1,000 Ksh on the billion streams that the artist’s song gets, sharing new initiatives that the streaming media company should consider doing.
Jalang’o also shaded some light on starlet wahu’s mysterious murder saying that he intends to propose a law intends to make sure that all airbnb owners are registered so that it becomes easier to follow up and know the ones visiting the houses.
“I personally will take the law in parliament every single airbnb must be registered we must know the owner you cannot get into an airbnb when we don’t know who you are” Jalang’o explained.
